Before we begin, it’s important we’re on the same page about how this process works.
My Commitment to You
I am committed to helping you understand why your dog’s behaviour is happening and what to do instead.
Inside this program, I will:
Break down your dog’s behaviour in a way that actually makes sense
Give you clear, practical steps you can apply in your real, day-to-day life
Adjust the training plan based on your dog’s progress and your environment
Support you between sessions so you’re not left guessing when things come up
This is not about quick fixes or surface-level obedience.
This is about building the underlying skills your dog needs to stay calm, make better decisions, and stay connected to you — even when things get hard.
Your Commitment to the Process
For this to work, your role matters just as much.
You agree to:
Consistently apply the training strategies provided
Communicate openly about challenges, setbacks, and progress
Follow safety and management guidance
Prioritize your dog’s physical and emotional wellbeing
You understand that meaningful behaviour change comes from repetition, consistency, and application — not just information.
What This Means for Results
We are building skills, not forcing behaviours.
Because of that:
Progress is expected, but timelines will vary
Setbacks are a normal part of the process
Results depend on consistency, environment, and follow-through
When both sides commit to the process, this is where real, lasting change happens.
Liability Waiver & Assumption of Risk
IN CONSIDERATION of being permitted to participate in training services provided by Mission Paws Dog School and Samaya de Laat (the “Programs”), I hereby RELEASE, WAIVE, DISCHARGE AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE Mission Paws Dog School, Samaya de Laat, and any employees, contractors, or representatives (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, injury, illness, or death that may be sustained by me, my dog, any third party, or property belonging to me, whether caused by negligence or otherwise, while participating in the Programs or present on any premises where the Programs are conducted.
I acknowledge that working with dogs involves inherent risks. Dogs are unpredictable animals and may cause injury or damage. I voluntarily assume full responsibility for all risks associated with participation, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, or incidents involving third parties.
I further acknowledge that Mission Paws Dog School maintains limited insurance coverage and that such coverage may not extend to me or my dog. I accept full financial responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury that may occur.
Emergency Care
I authorize the Releasees to seek emergency medical or veterinary care for myself or my dog if deemed necessary and if I am unable to do so. I understand that all costs associated with such care are my responsibility, and I release the Releasees from any liability related to these decisions or outcomes.
Medical & Veterinary Considerations
I acknowledge that behaviour concerns may be influenced by underlying medical conditions, pain, or physical discomfort.
I confirm that my dog is in appropriate health to participate in training.
If, at any point, Mission Paws Dog School suspects that a medical or pain-related factor may be contributing to my dog’s behaviour, I agree to seek veterinary guidance, which may include a veterinary-recommended pain trial or further diagnostics.
I understand:
Mission Paws Dog School does not diagnose or treat medical conditions
Behaviour progress may be limited if medical factors are not addressed
Training may be paused, modified, or adjusted until medical considerations are appropriately explored
Client Responsibility & Commitment
I acknowledge that dog training is a collaborative process and that results are directly influenced by my consistency, follow-through, and application of the training provided.
I understand and agree that:
No specific behavioural outcome can be guaranteed
My dog’s progress depends on factors including environment, history, genetics, and my implementation of training
Ongoing participation and consistency are required to achieve meaningful change
I further agree to:
Accurately disclose my dog’s behavioural history, triggers, and any bite history
Immediately inform Mission Paws Dog School of any changes in behaviour, health, or circumstances
Follow safety guidance and management recommendations provided during training
Failure to disclose relevant information may result in termination of services without refund and I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any resulting claims or damages.
Training Methods
I acknowledge that Mission Paws Dog School uses reinforcement-based training methods.
I agree that I will not use aversive tools or methods (including but not limited to prong collars, e-collars, or spray devices) during the course of training, as doing so may interfere with progress and safety.
Mission Paws Dog School reserves the right to discontinue services if training methods outside of this agreement are implemented.
Referral to Veterinary Behaviour Specialists
If deemed necessary, I understand that I may be referred to a qualified veterinary behaviour professional for additional support. Participation in such referrals is my responsibility.
Indemnification
I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from my participation in the Programs or failure to adhere to provided guidance.
Scheduling, Payments & Expiry
Payment is required in full (or via agreed payment plan) prior to the commencement of services
Sessions must be used within 180 days of purchase
Cancellations or rescheduling with less than 24 hours notice are subject to a $50 cancellation fee
All rescheduling is subject to availability
Group Classes:
Minimum 7 days notice required for refunds (less $20 processing fee)
Less than 7 days notice: credit issued (valid 180 days)
No Guarantee of Results
I acknowledge that Mission Paws Dog School cannot guarantee specific results as we are working with living beings.
Training is designed to build the underlying skills that influence behaviour; however, outcomes depend on consistent implementation and variables outside the trainer’s control.
Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia.
Severability
If any provision of this Agreement is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
Acknowledgment
I confirm that:
I have read and understand this Agreement in full
I am at least 19 years of age
I am voluntarily entering into this Agreement
I understand this is a legally binding document
